Why do plants move?

 Introduction
Plants do not walk, but they do have small movements. Some plants move to face the light and some others move to close their leaves when you touch them.

What is the reason and mechanism of these movements?
Is it a conscious decision or a physiological reaction?
 
 Project description
This is a project that you can complete in about two weeks. You will gather some sample plants and do some experiments and collect some information. Your display may contain your report and some samples of plants.
