Measuring
Outer Space
Make a
telescope, Make a star clock |

Introduction:
Astronomers determine the size and distances of stars and planets
without ever leaving the earth. How can you measure a size or a
distance remotely? How are sizes and distances measured in outer
space?
Can a telescope be of help?

Material and instructions:
In this project you will get familiar
with tools and techniques of astronomy. You will learn how to build a
simple telescope. You will also learn how to tell the time at night by
the position of stars. You will finally learn how to measure the size
and distance of objects from far distances. Do a visual exploration of
sky.
Record your discoveries and exchange information with others
about what you have discovered. |
