The effects of electric fields on plants

Introduction:

Natural and many human-made sources generate electromagnetic energy in the form of electromagnetic waves. These waves consist of oscillating electric and magnetic fields which interact differently with biological systems such as cells, plants, animals, or human beings.

Current research indicates a variance of opinions and research coming from different people. For the most part, people claim that EMF radiation is an environmental hazard and is a concern for everyone, for it is often linked to cancer related syndromes and leukemia. Other research has said that this is misleading and although EMF does affect people, (through the human's natural melatonin) the impact is not very great . There is great controversy on EMF and its effects on humans.

In order to better understand these interactions, we can perform experiments to test the effects of electromagnetic fields on plants and animals.

 Project description:
In this project you will investigate the effect of electromagnetic fields on plants. Material and equipment for the experiment can be found at home or obtained locally. You need to have 6 to 8 weeks for your experiments. You may optionally use an EMF tester (shown above) in your experiments.
