A study of saponification reactions

Introduction:
Saponification is the process of making soap by reacting a strong base and a fat. There are a large variety of products that are being made with this method. Bar soap is one of such products. Tooth paste, shaving cream, liquid soaps and many lubricants are being made with the same method. The only difference is the type of fat and the type of base that you use for your product.

 Project description:
In this project you will perform saponification experiments with a variety of fats and bases. You will actually make soap and learn about the chemistry behind soap, shaving cream, tooth paste and grease manufacturing industries.
