Magnets and electromagnets- What affects the strength of an electromagnet?

Electromagnets have many industrial applications and are an important part of almost any electrical machine. It is important to be able to make electromagnets that are stronger and more efficient. If the electromagnet is not efficient, part of the electricity will be wasted in the form of heat, while the strength of magnet remains low.

In this project you will investigate the factors affecting the strength of an electromagnet. Factors such as the number of loops of wire in a coil and the amount of electric current may be studied. The results of your experiments can help you to design a stronger electromagnet.
