Designing a
strong bridge |
|
|
|
Introduction
Bridges are among the most fascinating
products of engineering and physical science. While designing and
building a bridge you have to overcome many difficulties and constraints.
In a bridge project you will be asked to design and construct a bridge
that will hold the most weight for a given span. Now you are probably
wondering where to start... |

Project
description
In this project you will first design and perform experiments that can
help you to decide how the design affects the strength of a bridge.
You will then design and build a bridge using any material of your
choice. Two common material that you can use to construct your bridge
are toothpicks and pasta. |
Details
of this project
More details or support for this project is available for the
members of ScienceProject.com. Material
needed for experiment or a science kit about this title may be
available at MiniScience.com. If you choose to make a pasta bridge, you
may purchase pasta from any local supermarket. You may also purchase
toothpicks from supermarkets; however, only round double pointed
toothpicks are recommended for bridge construction. |
